Tesco’s Latest Meal Deal Upgrade Has Everyone Talking – Here’s Why You Should Care

Tesco, in collaboration with BBH London, is highlighting the UK’s universal love for its Meal Deal in a new campaign that gives this lunch staple the “icon” treatment. The campaign features a fun social film titled “Tesco Meal Deal – Your Best Combo, Made Better”, which showcases passionate Meal Deal lovers from all walks of life declaring why their combo is the ultimate 10/10 choice. Directed by Otis Dominique and produced by BBH’s Black Sheep Studios, the film cleverly demonstrates that, no matter what your favorite combo is, Tesco has just made it even better.

What’s New in Tesco’s Meal Deal?

To ensure customers get the best lunch experience, Tesco has made significant upgrades to its Meal Deal ingredients. These changes include swapping in stronger matured cheddar, sweeter plum tomatoes, and new seasonings for extra flavor. On top of that, they’ve introduced seven new salad options for those seeking a healthier lunchtime choice.

With more than 20 new mains added to the lineup, Tesco now offers millions of potential meal combinations. From sandwiches to salads, there’s something to satisfy every craving.

A Glimpse into the Campaign’s Storyline

The campaign’s central film opens in an urban park, where a proud Meal Deal fan is about to enjoy his lunch and eagerly shares his selection on social media. His excitement is quickly challenged by other parkgoers, each confidently declaring that their combo is the best. As the debate escalates, a calm Tesco employee steps in with her “top tier” recommendation, adding a humorous touch to the conversation.

What the Experts Are Saying

Murray Bisschop, Tesco’s UK Marketing Director, emphasized the popularity of the Meal Deal and how these improvements reflect Tesco’s commitment to giving customers even more value. “With millions of combinations and recent ingredient upgrades, there’s now something for every taste,” Bisschop said.

Tesco’s Product Director, Breige Donaghy, highlighted the specific improvements made, such as using juicier prawns in their prawn mayo and adding sweeter plum tomatoes to the BLT, ensuring lunch is more flavorful than ever.

BBH London’s Thomas Reynolds also shared his excitement about the project, noting that “Every Brit has a combo they’ll defend, and we wanted to reflect that in a playful way. For me, it’s the prawn mayo sandwich, BBQ Hula Hoops, and a Coke.”
